Core Istanbul Interior Design Hackathon is an initiative by Mimaria Studio in collaboration with Core Istanbul, aiming to foster innovative, sustainable, and user-centered interior design solutions. This hackathon challenges participants to redefine modern workspace environments, integrating flexibility, creativity, and functionality to meet the needs of diverse professionals, entrepreneurs, and businesses in Istanbul.
Introduction:
Core Istanbul and its administrative offices aim to establish a distinctive interior design identity for their office and coworking spaces—one that can be seamlessly applied across different areas while remaining adaptable to the needs of diverse users, from freelancers and entrepreneurs to startups and non-profit organizations.
This competition invites offices, architects, interior designers, fourth-year students, and recent graduates residing in Istanbul to propose innovative design solutions that reflect the values of creativity, sustainability, and functionality, ensuring a balance between visual identity and practical user needs.

Challenge:
The Core Istanbul Interior Design Hackathon challenges architects and designers to redefine the future of workspaces by creating functional, aesthetically inspiring, and flexible environments.
The competition focuses on two main areas:
- ● The Administrative Offices of Core Istanbul – A structured and professional space designed to enhance efficiency, teamwork, and innovation.
- ● Core Istanbul Coworking Space – A dynamic, flexible environment for entrepreneurs, startups, and freelancers, fostering collaboration and creativity.
Participants must propose designs that:
- ● Reflect Core Istanbul’s identity while balancing creativity and practicality.
- ● Enhance productivity, well-being, and user experience in the workspace.
- ● Incorporate sustainable and eco-friendly solutions that align with modern environmental standards.
- ● Integrate smart technology and innovative workspace solutions to support modern business needs.
- ● Ensure adaptability and scalability, allowing the design to be implemented across future expansions of Core Istanbul.

Competition Tracks:
The Core Istanbul Interior Design Hackathon offers participants the opportunity to compete in one or both of the following tracks, each addressing a distinct aspect of workspace design. Whether focusing on structured office environments or dynamic coworking spaces, participants are challenged to craft innovative, functional, and inspiring interiors that reflect Core Istanbul’s identity.
Track 1: The Administrative Offices of Core Istanbul
The administrative offices serve as the operational hub of Core Istanbul, supporting its mission in education, entrepreneurship, and community development. This track challenges participants to design a professional, structured, and efficient workspace that enhances productivity, collaboration, and institutional identity. The design should incorporate elements that foster focus, organization, and seamless workflow, ensuring an optimal work environment for Core Istanbul’s team. Key considerations include privacy, acoustics, lighting, and ergonomic solutions, creating a balance between functionality and aesthetics.
Track 2: Core Istanbul Coworking Space
Core Istanbul’s coworking space is a dynamic and interactive environment designed to empower freelancers, startups, and entrepreneurs. This track invites participants to rethink modern coworking environments, ensuring flexibility and adaptability for diverse work styles and collaborative experiences. The design should foster innovation and networking, integrating smart technology, sustainable solutions, and multipurpose zones that cater to a variety of professional needs. The ideal coworking space should seamlessly transition between individual work, team collaboration, and event hosting, providing a vibrant ecosystem where creativity and productivity thrive.
Participants may choose to submit proposals for one or both tracks. Each submission will be evaluated independently, ensuring a fair and comprehensive assessment of every design proposal.

Criteria:
- Innovation and Creativity:
● Designs should demonstrate originality and forward-thinking approaches to workspace design.
● Judges will assess how the project challenges conventional layouts and introduces new solutions that enhance productivity and collaboration.
- Alignment with Core Istanbul’s Brand Identity:
● Proposals must integrate the ethos, values, and mission of Core Istanbul while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic that could be expanded in future projects. .
- Functionality and Flexibility:
● The spaces should be highly functional, catering to diverse professional needs while remaining adaptable to future expansions.
● Judges will look at how effectively the design balances privacy, collaboration, and efficient workflow.
- Response to Site Context:
● Judges will evaluate how well the design interacts with the diverse business and residential district of Beylikdüzü.
- Aesthetic Quality and Material Innovation:
● The design should present a high level of architectural and visual appeal.
● The jury will assess attention to detail, material selection, and color composition to enhance the workspace experience.
● The use of sustainable and innovative materials will be considered an advantage.
- Economic Feasibility:
● While creativity is essential, the implementation of the design must also be realistic and cost-effective.
● Proposals that offer high-impact solutions at reasonable costs will be favored.
- Aesthetic Quality and Material Innovation:
● The design should present a high level of architectural and visual appeal.
● The jury will assess attention to detail, material selection, and color composition to enhance the workspace experience.
● The use of sustainable and innovative materials will be considered an advantage.
- Presentation Quality:
● The clarity, professionalism, and completeness of the presentation materials will play a crucial role in evaluation.
● Judges will consider how effectively the submission communicates the design concept, ideas, and execution process through visuals, diagrams, and written explanations.
